Miller W. Boyd III will share insights about the African American experience in Missouri during the Civil War and unraveling the motives for service such as fighting to destroy slavery, securing black citizenship, preserving the Union, and a chance to financially provide for their families.  The question might have been asked, “Why don’t you come down here and enlist and fight for your country?”
