George Caleb Bingham and the Election of 1844

Joan Stack, curator of art collections at the State Historical Society of Missouri, will explore two 1845 paintings of George Caleb Bingham: “The Concealed Enemy” and “Fur Traders Descending The Missouri” to examine American expansionism, the central issue of the 1844 election between James K. Polk and Henry Clay.
