Lone Jack Historical Society Annual Commemoration Day
Sat, AUG 18, 2018, 09:00am

From the Lone Jack Historical Society:

Our event is now going to be part of a larger event which will be known as the Lone Jack Heritage Day.  Many years ago the grounds were a gathering place for families to come, picnic and visit with neighbors.  President Truman remembered doing this as a youth and enjoyed it so much he made sure our museum was built.  We are slowly trying to bring this event back to life.  Not only will we be having a flag raising ceremony, laying the wreaths, remembering the veterans of all wars but also honoring our men and women who work in the community.  We will sponsor the city wide picnic and afternoon music.  We have asked every organization, club, church and business to come show what they have that makes Lone Jack unique and special.  We believe there will be crafts, coupons from various businesses, raffles, and children's activities just to name a few items that are already in the planning.  If you are in greater KC area and would like to participate by setting up a booth to advertise your business or sell your crafts, send an email with your information to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  We want events to start at 9am and continue at least through the early afternoon.  We will not have a fee to attend this event.  However, there may be opportunities for you to spend your cash at various booths.  There will also be a fiddle contest beginning at 6pm (once the heat of the day is done); there will be cash prizes for this.  Once again watch the website and Facebook for more details in mid-July.
