His final Chapter and a Most Eventful One.

Don Bates, our presenter is connected on his maternal side to the Callaway family and will talk telling the history he has learned over the years.  The men and women of that time were remarkable for the life they led against all odds.  Come listen for your enjoyment on Thursday evening, January 31st at 7:00 P.M.

In 1799, Daniel Boone led his extended family from Kentucky to the Femme Osage country in Missouri down near St. Charles, MO.  The history of Boone and his family in Missouri will be about significant events of this famous frontier pioneer hero so will be of particular interest to Missourians.  One of his daughters married into the Callaway family.  At the end of the War of 1812, Daniel and Rebecca's grandson, Captain James Callaway, leading a local militia company was killed by Sauk Indians in an ambush down near the Prairie Fork of Loutre Creek.

The County of Callaway in that area of Missouri was named after him.
