Dr. Gerald R. Butters, Jr.: “Lincoln on Film.”

Lincoln may have hundreds of books written about him, but he has not frequently been a subject in motion pictures.  While the time period of a film may reflect how he is depicted, Butters argues that it is the collaborative team (director, screenwriter) who are most prominent in shaping how he is portrayed.  The major motion pictures on Lincoln will be discussed with special emphasis on the origins of the films.
