Pea Ridge National Military ParkPlease join the Civil War Round Table of Western Missouri (CWRTWM / Round Table) for a 2-day road trip and tour to Pea Ridge National Military Park and Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in northwest Arkansas.  Transportation to and from Arkansas will be your responsibility.

When:  Wednesday and Thursday, April 19-20, 2023

Costs (pay as you go):  Because some may want to go earlier than Wednesday or stay longer, we are asking everyone to make their own lodging reservation and pay other expenses.

  • Transportation to the sites (on your own)
  • Overnight at various Bentonville, Arkansas lodging establishments:
    Many price points.  You may be eligible for special rates available to you through your credit card or affiliated groups such as AAA, AARP or your gym membership.  You should “guarantee for late arrival” because you may not arrive before 4 p.m.
  • Meals:
    The Round Table will provide lunch at the Pea Ridge visitor’s center on Wednesday, April 19 at noon.  Other meals such as dinner Wednesday night will be your own expense, but we will probably pick a restaurant so that everyone can eat together if they wish.  Many hotels include breakfast the following morning.
  • Tours of the battlefields:
    • Pea Ridge Battlefield and Visitor's Center -- Free (ranger led tour)
    • Prairie Grove Battlefleld Museum -- Free.  $6 per person  for tour of the Borden House.  Self-guided tour of the Battlefield.

Wednesday, April 19, 2023 --

  • Meet at Pea Ridge Battlefield Museum in Arkansas by Noon on April 19th.  It is approximately a 3 ½ hour drive from Independence.  A light lunch will be served courtesy of the Round Table.  We will first see the museum and then have a ranger led tour.
  • Travel to your lodging establishment where you have made your own reservation
  • Dinner at one of the restaurants in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Thursday, April 20, 2023 --

  • Breakfast and check out.  Ready to eave by about 9:00 a.m. to travel to Prairie Grove Battlefield, an approximate 20 minute drive.
  • Tour the museum and the Borden House (click here for house info) on the Battlefield ($6 per person for the house).  Self-guided tour of the Battlefield.  Probably be finished by about noon.
  • We will bid everyone farewell for lunch on your own and the trip back.
